Food and wine pairing

key points to know

You don't need to be a wine expert to create a perfect harmony between your dish and the wine you choose to accompany it. To achieve the perfect food and wine pairing, you just need to follow some very simple rules. The aromas of the wine should bring out the flavors of the dish and vice versa. This is called a horizontal pairing.

Which wine for which dish?

Semi-dry white wine or sweet wine pair perfectly with spicy cuisine and desserts.

Dry white wine is used to enhance the flavors of fish, such as salmon, or various types of seafood.

Fruity white wine is better suited to accompany white meat.

Full-bodied and heady red wine pairs well with dishes in sauce or made with red meat or duck.

Rosé and light red wine are perfect for a charcuterie appetizer or for enjoying poultry or andouillette.

Other rules to follow

Of course, these general rules must be adapted to the situation. For example, if one of your guests doesn't like white wine, you'll need to opt for a light red wine or a rosé to accompany a fish dish.

If you've prepared a traditional regional dish, also try to combine it with a local wine or grape variety for better harmony.

Finally, for a light meal, choose a wine with the same character, and do the opposite for a more substantial meal.

Beer and food pairing

Which beer for which dish?

Pairing food and beer is becoming increasingly popular in restaurants. Indeed, the diversity of this beverage makes it an ideal partner for gourmet meals. Sweet, bitter, floral, tart, fruity, with notes of honey, its richness allows for countless associations and combinations.

Which beer for which dish?

For the starter, which is usually light, a similar type of beer is recommended. White beer, for example, pairs perfectly with raw vegetables or seafood, especially if it is slightly flavored.

For the main course, amber beer is an excellent choice. It goes well with grilled meat or spicier dishes. For fish and white meats, opt for blonde beer.

Blonde beer is also a good choice to accompany cheeses, as are flavored beers.

Finally, for dessert, we recommend a good dark beer to, for example, enhance the taste of a delicious chocolate cake.

Cocktail and food pairing

Everything you need to know about food pairing

Food pairing isn't limited to wine and beer; cocktails can also be part of it. But to successfully pair these alcoholic concoctions with dishes, a few rules must be followed.

The first is to banish overly strong spirits like whiskey, which overpower the flavors. Next, opt for long drinks. Finally, don't mix too many alcohols to maintain some consistency.

Which cocktail base for which dish?

Gin (gin and tonic, gin fizz) with beef and chicken.

Prosecco (all types of spritz) with goat cheese or sushi.

Rum (mojito, daiquiri) with pork or sea bream for fish.

Tequila (paloma and tequila sunrise) with avocado-based dishes.

Vodka (blue lagoon, cosmopolitan) with crab.

Our ranges of high-end cocktail glasses are all made from Krysta. An innovative material that has the brilliance of crystal, but is much more resistant.

In terms of design, the Open'Up tumbler boasts a very contemporary conical style, ideal for high-end restaurants. The Lima glasses, meanwhile, are a must-have for all trendy bars. Finally, our champagne glasses and flutes offer elegant lines to enhance your champagne-based preparations and make them bubble endlessly.

Bonus: food and sake pairings

A Japanese alcoholic beverage made from rice, sake is becoming increasingly popular in restaurants, as it pairs well with many Japanese dishes, and beyond.

Generally speaking, sake delicately accompanies seafood, especially oysters, as well as foie gras. For fish, choose a fairly delicate sake such as daiginjo.

For cheeses, it depends on your choice. Blue cheese pairs with a rather dense and rich sake, while Parmesan goes well with a fruity sake.

Finally, thanks to the creaminess of rice and its fruity aromas, sake is the perfect partner for sweet treats and pastries.
