What characteristics justify choosing glass for your plates? First, and not least: their weight. Glass plates are lightweight. Whether it's a dinner plate, a soup plate, or a dessert plate, a glass plate is lighter and easier to handle than a plate made of ceramic (including porcelain), stoneware, or earthenware. This makes all the difference when it comes to setting a table or serving a meal... but also when it comes to storing them on shelves or in cupboards at home! Furthermore, to continue discussing the practical aspects, glass plates are easier to clean than traditional plates. Glass is a non-porous material, so grease, stains, and other food residues have much more difficulty adhering to the surface of the plate, and can therefore be removed with a simple wipe of a sponge or a rinse in the dishwasher! A logical consequence: glass plates are therefore much more hygienic: in addition to easier cleaning (by hand or in the dishwasher), their non-porous surface makes it more difficult for bacteria to develop on the surface.
